Chenonceaux #1

Chenonceaux castle #1
Some week-ends ago, I've visited three castles among the "Castles on the Loire".
The first one I want to show you is Chenonceaux. It is famous because it was built on the river as you can see on the picture.

Changing time

Musée d'Orsay, Paris 7

This building used to be a train station, built in 1898. It was converted into the museum in 1986. It presents mainly art dating from 1848 to 1915, and is well known for its impressionist collection.

Why the title? We changed hours, it's now winter time since Sunday. From the colors of the picture, you can definitively see that it's not summer any more...

Mythology (Versailles #4)

Le bosquet de la Colonnade, Versailles' gardens

The statue, by François Girardon, represents the rape of Proserpine (daughter of Ceres) by Pluto, god of the dead.
The mythological story explains how Ceres, goddess of the earth, refused to allow anything to grow after the loss of her daughter. Jupiter, worried that mankind would starve persuaded Pluto to let Prosperine spend part of the year with her mother (then spring would come), and pass the rest with Pluto beneath the earth (this would be winter).
